Setting Up Giftable Products
Now it's time to decide which products you want to make giftable.
Step 1: Name your Configuration
Start by giving your configuration a unique name. This helps you easily identify and manage different gifting setups for your store.
Step 2: Add your Products
You’ll be able to select which products in your store can be gifted. Use the Search Bar or Browse button to find specific items.
For products with multiple variations (like different sizes or colors), we encourage you to make entire product lines giftable whenever possible. For example, you may want to allow only the blue version of a product to be giftable while excluding other colors. However, allowing the entire product to be giftable offers a smoother experience for customers and expands the potential for gift purchases across your store.
Once your products are selected, you’ll need to configure various gifting options. Here’s how to set them up for the best user experience.
Step 3: Set Up Gift Plan Fees
- Shipping Fees: Determine how much (if anything) the gifter should pay for shipping. By default, the cheapest shipping method is offered for free to the gift recipient, but you can set a charge for faster shipping options.
For example, if you set the shipping fee to $10, purchasers will be charged $itemPrice + $10 for shipping. Leave this field blank if you offer free shipping.
- Gift Wrapping Fees: You can add an optional gift wrap fee to enhance the gifting experience. For instance, if a shirt is $25 and gift wrapping costs $5, the total for the customer will be $30. Adding a wrapping option is an easy way to improve the customer experience and generate extra revenue.
Step 4: Select Gifting Method
Choose how customers can send gifts. Ribbon currently supports two gifting methods:
- Digital Gifting Only: The gift is delivered via a digital link.
- Digital and Physical Gifting: Customers can send gifts digitally, while physical items are shipped separately.
If you only wish to offer digital gifts, click the Disable Physical Gifting option.
Tip: Whenever possible, consider enabling both digital and physical gifting for entire product lines. This flexibility maximizes customer choice and enhances their gifting experience.
Step 5: Upsell Products During Gift Redemption
You can further increase your sales by offering upsells during the gift redemption process. Ribbon allows you to choose up to two products to recommend when a gift recipient redeems their gift. This is an opportunity to present complementary products, increasing the chances of additional purchases.
- To add upsell products, click the Add Upsell Products button and select the items you'd like to recommend.
- For products with multiple variations (like different sizes or colors), you can decide whether you want to upsell specific variations or the entire product line.
Step 6: Add Tags (Advanced Option)
Through the Advanced Options, you can include multiple tags to automatically label gift purchase orders and gift redemptions. Adding tags helps you track gift orders more efficiently and allows you to organize and analyze which items are frequently gifted.
- Gift Order Tags: Add one or more tags that will be applied to each order containing a gift. This makes it easier to identify gift purchases in your order history.
- Redemption Order Tags: Similarly, you can add multiple tags to label orders when a recipient redeems their gift. This can provide insights into redemption patterns and help streamline order management.
Once your tags are set, they will automatically apply to relevant orders, ensuring a well-organized system for tracking gift-related activities.
Step 7: Save Your Changes
Once all configurations have been made, don’t forget to click the Save button at the top of the page to apply your settings.
